I have been a birder since I was about 12 so this has been my main hobby for over 30 years. Looking through books and magazines and seeing some of the fantastic photographs that have been taken, I thought that this is something that I would like to be able to do. So I got a second hand Minolta XG1 and a second hand Tamron 300f5.6, with which I would rarely get good results but it kept me happy. While chatting with my mate Alan he mentioned that Tom was selling his camera and lens, a Canon T90 and a Sigma 500 F4.5 APO, which I bought. This was the kind of combination for bird photography that I had always desired, but after just a few outings with this set up I realised that I wanted (needed) auto focus to help me achieve my goal, so that’s where I am at now, this is my kit. I have come a long way from that 1st camera.
